Interesting base. Very timely with recent DNA acknowledgement of Hemming's Chiildren (slaves) as Jefferson's children. Historical fiction. Depicts life at Monticello and the deterioration of the place, along with Jefferson's declining health and debts. Dialogue was repetitive. Belabored points. Repetitious. Author's notes at the end were fascinating. I didn't like the book.
