Publisher's description from Amazon:
Elise and Franklin have always been best friends. Elise has always lived in the big house with her loving Uncle and Aunt, because Elise's parents died when she was too young to remember them. There's always been a barn behind the house with eight locked doors on the second floor. When Elise and Franklin start middle school, things feel all wrong. Bullying. Not fitting in. Franklin suddenly seems babyish. Then, soon after her 12th birthday, Elise receives a mysterious key left for her by her father. A key that unlocks one of the eight doors upstairs in the bar . . .

My second favorite of this year's Black Eyed Susan books. Elise Bertrand's parents died when she was young so she lived with an aunt and uncle. Her world was rocked by a rough transition to middle school and bullying. Keys are found for Elise during her birthday to open locked doors in a workshop barn. Themes for the keys: Question, Believe, Choose to live, Choose to love, Understand those you love, Treasure your life. Gifts from her father via aunt, uncle and family friend. Girls transitioning to middle school, coping with peers and bullying or family loss will like this book.

I really liked Eight Keys. It was about a girl learning about bullies, her friends, her parents, and herself. It is really good, and I would TOTALLY reccomend it. It touches your heart!
